Accomodation in Hastings

We discovered how far Loafers Paradise Accomodation was on the first day, so we decided we should see how long it took to get to Grahams work....it was over 40 minutes...including all of the times we got lost!! So, we decided to just knock on all of the doors of the motels near Grahams work and see if we could get accomodation for 2 weeks, to give us time to find rental accomodation. We went to a few and then ended up at Elmore Lodge...the owners were on holiday and had left their daughters in charge!!

We explained our situation and the cost was $800 a week......which was what we had been quoted all of the way down the street at the rest of the motels...at Ocean Beach we we're paying less than half of the price....but these hotels we're closer to Hastings' city and the price reflected this! Anyway....after I had picked my chin up off the counter I just started bartering....the daughters were great and started looking through all of the system to see if they could knock any money off...they could get it down to $650...so I just stood there looking helpless!!!!! he he he, they then got the yellow pages out and started helping us find something cheaper!!...by this stage we are chatting and having a laugh.....and they say, 'we'll ring our mum on holiday and see if we can get you more of a discount!!!'..I said not to bother doing that !!!

Anyway after about half an hour, they made an executive decision between them and gave it us for $400!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and that was a studio with a kitchen...an absolute bargain!! They we're great to us and we really appreciated it.

So, we moved accomodation the Saturday before Graham was due at work.....when you see the pics you will wonder why we moved from such a gorgeous location at Ocean Beach.....it was just for practical reasons!! Graham walked to work from this motel.

You'll have to excuse the photo's, they we're taken when we we're in the middle of packing, and we had gained quite a lot of stuff by this point!!

You can probably see why I was quite down in the 3rd week...I spent 8 and a half hours in this room whilst Graham was at work! I was desperate to get a job!

Both hacked off with living out of our suitcases at this point!
