We drove past this spot initially..turned back and it was worth the trip. Arrived at this local cafe/bar...we were looking around, trying to find a walking track....whilst the locals looked at us through the windows amused...anyhow...as we were on our way to ask them the way...one guy came out and told us where to go to get to the hot springs.
Set off, it was an easy walk, very flat and we could hear running water as we walked. There was lots of cow poop...so I was rather wary! lol...not a fan of cows! There were quite a lot of bee hives also, so took some pics. We got to a gate that was sign posted hot pools...but the sign had been altered somewhat to say the hot pools were safe, when infact the council sign had said 'unsafe'.
When we arrived there was a backpacking kiwi couple there, really chatty and friendly. They were telling us about their travels and that they had visited the hot pools at midnight last night...
Next minute...they are blocking the pipe that feeds the water...'you two coming in?'...I explained that we would like to but that we didn't have our togs....he said neither have we...and started stripping off saying 'Who needs togs?'...my chin hit the deck...Graham was smirking and laughing at my face! Being the reserved Brit...I took my shoes and socks off and dangled my feet!!!!! lol....they took a couple of pics for us and we took some of them...clearly their pics were not in the buff in the hot pool! Then...we left them to it....it started raining, and they both just stripped! hysterical! Oh to be kiwi!
Anyhow....whilst paddling our prudish feet....the views were amazing...what a little piece of paradise in the middle of nowhere!
We'll go back again....WITH TOGS!
