Haumoana House Hunting

As we have said before, we haven't been 'out and about' much ( walking/visiting new places etc)this last month as we have been spending all of our weekends house hunting...you name it, we have been there! We have looked at so so many properties. This weekend we went to a place called Haumoana...which is right on the coast...with the beach over the road ( like where we are now). It is very very quite...maybe too quite! The place consists of the beach, a river, houses and a dairy ( shop). We took some pics when we were out there......

Second Earthquake!

Quake rattles Hawke's Bay
An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck Hawke's Bay early this morning.
Seismologists say the quake happened at 4.27am and was centred about 30 kilometres east of the city, at a depth of 35 kilometres.
It was felt in Havelock North and Clive.-YahooXtra News

We were woken up this morning by our second earthquake...shook the bed and lots of things banging ...not half as bad as the last one though!

National Aquarium-Napier-10th May 2008

Huge crocodile....

There were drawers of lots of fossils and the tinniest shells

Visited the National Aquarium today in Napier. We met Helen and Jon there about 11.00am and ventured inside. It was $14.50 to get in which is about £6.00...not bad! Lots to see there, loads of fish, shells, fossils, sea horses, crocodiles, lizards, sharks etc etc...the highlight for both of us was the turtle and the Kiwi. The turtle was huge and had been at the aquarium for 29 years, which is rather sad...but magical to see. To see the kiwi's we had to go into this dark corridor and be silent..there we're two walking around this large encaged area..they are funny looking, two legs, a big fat hairy body ( larger than a chicken!!) and a really long pointy beak that looked like a walking stick! It is the first kiwi we had both seen since being here and they we're worth the wait...they are really odd and it amazes me how the actually stand up!

Took some pics...but couldn't get any of the kiwi's as wasn't allowed to take pics!

Veg Watch-Lettuce is ready!!!!! ha ha

Actually ate the lettuce I have been growing for dinner the other night! lol....the silverbeet is ready so that is next for the chop!!!

Autumn...and the sun is still shining!!!

The last few weekends we have been busy viewing houses around the local area...hence there hasn't been much action on the blog! Took this piccy last weekend when we stopped for lunch whilst trawling through the property mags, the cafe faces the sea front and has fab views.

The weather is cold in the mornings and evenings, but throughout the day it is still fairly warm..it is probably the equivalent to November over here and it is reaching 18c most days...not bad!

English Food Shop...

When walking along the main street in Taradale we stumbled across and English shop...mmmmm...never been so pleased to be ripped off! Bought lots of things, mainly goodies! The best thing about the shop was..it sold BLACKPOOL ROCK!!!! ha ha...had to buy some!
